What I've realized in the past few weeks, is that I like simple things. That may seem a little contradictory, considering that Juicy Couture is basically my life. But I feel that simple is all about perspective. Simple to me means clean lines and smooth surfaces. I've never been a fan of anything with too much texture or poor structure. I like to feel grounded (as I write this in my loft bed) and in sync with the earth and my body. I probably sound like a 40 year old Oprah guest. Oh well, at least I'm not confessing to a crime.
We don't have snow yet, but that doesn't mean we can't dress like we do. I'm currently wearing my Uggs all over the freaking place even though they are old and ugly. Comfyness wins out on that one. I've also been seeing cowls all over the place. My favorite version is the infinity scarf, which is a loop with one twist. you can loop it over its self for a double look or leave it longer. I wrote a knitting pattern for one on my new blog, llamasandcompany.blogspot.com . For coats this year, the trendy windbreakery type (think snowboarder) and wool trenches seem to be flying off the shopping websites. My new favorite place to internet shop is myhabit, which is an amazon service. If you're opposed to uggs, for boots you might want to try a cuter version of lace-up bean boots, like the ones at Roxy and Rocket Dog.
Thanks for keeping updated and cute! Everyone's contribution to cuteness helps the world be a prettier place to live. Tip- don't go to walmart on Saturday morning. It's when all the crazy people shop.
Adieu- (the newly brunette) Grace <3 p="p">3>
So, if you're a die-hard reader of Allure like me, you will have read the Essay in the recent issue. If you arn't or haven't read it, it's about a plus sized woman and her struggles with the word 'Fat'. I don't like the word. Fat can describe a body, but not a person. I hope that no one who is reading this blog has ever been called fat. But, truth is, you likely have been. Or you've called someone else fat. I have to admit... I'm no saint, but I try to keep the word off my lips. You have to remember, a body has a soul, no matter how big their subcutaneous layer is. And to everyone who has been called fat, remember, you are so much more.
If I was a celebrity, empowering women (and men) would be what I would like to be remembered for (along with getting a luxury bag named after me).
I would also like to do a bit of trend reporting. Lately, I have been more into hair. I have a bestie who can french braid her hair (without looking in gym class) in under 30 seconds. I turn around and she has a full-on fishtail going. I figured out how to do it, so I will probably be wearing braids for the next while. Also, about a month ago, I dyed the bottom of my hair pink. Well, in the above-mentioned Allure issue, guess what hair color trend is going on? Mhm. Thats right. Pink. I win.
Clothing. Right now is about classics: Riding boots, fur vests, cardigans, anything knit, and as always, slouchy hats. I am currently loving my Current/Elliott jeans as well as my James Jeans (both obtained under the stylish eye of my aunt). If you haven't been following the fashion weeks, well, you haven't missed anything too ingeneous. My dear Betsey had her last runway show, lingerie is making a comeback and so is color blocking and stripes, although I don't think the pair ever left.
Oh well. Love. Grace
Ps-check out slowrobot.com (it's from the people behind dear blank please blank!)
So I named this collage Beaches, because most of the people are on the beach. This summer I'm really liking blond too. Not to say that brunette is bad. Both are beautiful when pulled off correctly. Also, the Louis Vuitton carousel photo is wicked cool. And the braided leather band on the bleached chick.
Anyways, It's like 90 degrees here, so I'm gonna go take a bike ride. Maybe bleach my hair.
Eye Shadow- I don't use much, But if I did it would be elf, because I'm cheap.
Eyeliner- I usually use Covergirl's Perfect Point Plus, but I started using Smashbox, but it migrates a little to my eyelids, so I don't think I'll buy it again.
Mascara- I like Neutrogena's Healthy Length
Concealer- Uh, regular foundation? See below.
Foundation- Okay this is complicated. I use Clinique Acne Fighting LIQUID foundation when I'm tanish and Covergirl clean LIQUID foundation when I'm white. I use two different powders over them (for skin tone) one is Neutrogena, an one is Victoria's Secret- the only thing I've ever bought there.
Hair
Shampoo- anything for 'healthy length' because I'm growing my hair out.
Conditioner- same
volumizer- haha, no.
defrizzer- honestly, if they made a 'frizzer' i could use it and it would do nothing.
home hair color- protective cream.
Body
body scrub- sometimes i make my own with sugar, soap, and a banana.
body lotion- AmLactin (helps with eczema)
self tanner- i use one, but its a small bit from a large bottle my dads girlfriend has.
deodorant- i like the secret clinical strength kind too, but outlast or toms of maine is fine too.
tooth whitener- i'm fifteen. we dont use this shit.
nail polish- whatever i like from what people give me.
I'm going to skip the whole fragrance classificaition thing. I like Hollister body spray, Viva La Juicy, and Harajuku Lovers G. oh and dior's the one for men.
As you can see, I made this about 2 months ago, but it's still my summer inspiration. I just finished my freshman year, so summer is becoming my reality. I call this California Via NYC via Nantucket.
Anyways, I do a bit of pretend shopping so you can see where I'm coming from on some of this.
Proenza Schouler Bag- Okay this is out there. Way out there. Like, pluto. It's simply amazing however. (I'm secretly hoping they'll see this and give me a freebie) I have a Big Buddha bag that has a similar feel (without the I-Could-Have-Paid-Your-Rent-But-Bought-This-Bag-Instead-ness) and is 'vegan' or faux leather. I am, however, not opposed to leather.
Havaianas Flip Flops- I have had a mixed experience with these. One pair I had is still living somewhere (only too small for me) and another snapped on me. I know these arn't supposed to last forever, but still, it was disappointing.
Anything By Thakoon!- I especially love the scarf, red cardigan, yellow dress, and tuxedo jacket. I hope to see more of them this summer.
Okay. To close, my summer playlist.

So, relax, grab your iPod, bass-enhansing stereo earbuds, and a frosty drink, and lay outside. repeat until school.
So, just stumbling upon, you know how you do, and I found stereomood. I have just begun to use it, I'm listening to the chilling station, but I really like the idea.
Anyways, so some life updates.
I get to go to california again this summer! I'll be in LA and San Fransisco, just hanging with my favorite aunts. (Love you Chris!)
I'm about to finish 9th grade on wednesday!
I'm smart... But some of my A's are lowish, and i'm afraid my finals will make them fall. I hope my grades will stay up so I can go to Columbia or wherever.
And a few inspirations. (Tavi Gevinson makes amazing collage type things, so I think I might try that this weekend.)
It's weird, but I really like pavement. I am forever inspired by whiteish grey pavement on a hot, sunny day. Think concrete jungle.
Anyways. Have a good week. Congradulations seniors. love forever. grace.
